The Tower stands as the oldest building in Portobello, a historic landmark in the coolest part of Edinburgh, sitting directly on the sand. As a family, we’ve spent more than 20 years bringing it back to life.
We’ve curated the space to feel calm, stylish and elegant with a homely feel – a place that feels like yours the moment you step inside. It’s made for design-led couples who want a super stylish but simple, low-key affair that feels right for them.
For many of our couples, it’s an adventure: travelling to one of the most romantic, idealistic cities in the world, bringing their closest friends to celebrate in their very own Tower by the sea. Imagine getting married on the rooftop with only the sea as your backdrop, or in front of the fireplace before heading downstairs for a delicious meal with your nearest and dearest, cooked by one of our incredible partner chefs.

Small Wedding Venue with Soul, Steps from the Sea
Portobello is still something of a secret amongst tourists and Edinburgh locals – only 20 minutes from the city centre, but a world of its own. It’s a creative hub and a trendy spot with a stunning beach, so you get that relaxed seaside feeling without leaving the city behind.
The Tower has proudly stood on the prom since 1785, watching the tides and the town change around it, and yet it’s only been open to the public since January 2025. After more than two decades of family restoration, it’s now a calm, design-led space for couples to make their own.
On a wedding day, couples usually get ready in the stunning bedroom, greet their guests in the courtyard and then head up to the living room for their vows – or the rooftop, if they prefer to be outside, with the sea as their backdrop. Drinks and canapés are laid out in the kitchen and dining room, and guests often like to slip down to the beach for a stroll before dinner.

THE MICRO WEDDING
All the atmosphere of a grand city wedding, scaled to what matters. The Tower is yours to enjoy with your friends and family for your ceremony, toasts and a candlelit meal. We love the sound of a chatty dinner, candlelit rooms and long toasts - intimate, familiar and perfect for couples who just want to celebrate their nearest and dearest in an intimate setting.
Think good seasonal food, paired wines and the kind of conversations you remember long after the day has passed.

THE tOWER TAKE-OVER
The day will start with the bride and/or groom arriving early to get ready in the Tower. The bridal party could arrive with bridesmaids and ease into the morning with a calming meditation session, a bubble bath, a dip in the ocean or simply being greeted by their hair and makeup team in the bedroom who will help get ready for the big day.
When the time is right, the rooms are set: drinks to start, then your candle-lit ceremony, followed by canapés. While we restyle the rooms, guests can wander down to the beach for a walk, then return to a stunning dinner table set-up upstairs – candlelight, flowers and an incredible meal to enjoy together.
After dinner, it’s champagne on the roof, speeches on the PA system, maybe live music – all hosted with full service and quiet discretion. The most relaxed, laid-back day, with stunning photographs and the feeling that the whole Tower has been yours from start to finish.

The Atmosphere & Experience
The Tower feels personal and welcoming from the moment you arrive. With one beautiful room on each floor, connected by a winding staircase, it’s more like taking over a private home than a traditional venue. The light is beautiful throughout the day, from soft morning light in the kitchen to golden-hour views across the coast from the rooftop. It’s a photographer’s dream.
We offer light-touch planning or fuller support, depending on the package. Our style is relaxed and understated, with seasonal plants, textures and candlelight. You’ll also have access to trusted local suppliers who understand the space and the kind of intimate day you’re creating.
